WESTFIELD, Ind. -- The city of Westfield has a flattering new distinction to be proud of -- it was recently named the No. 1 small city in the United States.

The ranking was given to Westfield after a study by WalletHub.com.

Westfield was ranked No. 29 in affordability, No. 1 in economic health, No. 49 in education and health, No. 1117 in quality of life and No 94 in safety.

Westfield barely beat out Princeton, N.J., Leawood, Kan. and Littleton, Colo. for the No. 1 spot.

“Our community is consistently recognized for our schools, safety and quality of life,” Westfield Mayor Andy Cook said. “We are excited to be included in this ranking and hope this recognition will continue to spread the good news about Westfield.”

More than 1,200 cities were ranked. To qualify as a small city, it must have between 25,000-100,000 people.

Westfield is located about 25 miles north of Indianapolis, and has a population of about 30,000 people.
