WHITESTOWN — Working is getting underway for a new fire station in the growing Boone County suburb of Whitestown.

The Whitestown Fire Department held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for the new fire station, which will also serve as the headquarters for the fire department.

The new 23,000-square-foot station will be just south of the current station.

It will have space for more firetrucks, a large training room, fitness room, living and sleep quarters for 12 people and will house the Whitestown Fire Department's administrative offices.
