INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was struck and killed by a train while walking along the tracks in the rain on Indianapolis' west side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the area of Lynhurst Drive near Bertha Street around 6:30 a.m.

The woman has been identified by the Marion County Coroner's Office as Autumn Lynne Jarquin, 35. She died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries, the coroner's office said.

Employees of the train company told police that a woman was walking down the middle of the train tracks in the rain when she was struck. Police say they are not sure why the woman didn't get off of the tracks. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman's identity has not been released.
