INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash south of Indianapolis on Thursday afternoon.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the area of Thompson Road and Sherman Drive around 1:15 p.m. Thursday on report of a crash. Officers responded and found a car and truck had been involved in a serious crash.

IMPD said both the car and truck were traveling east on Thompson Road. Officers said the car was stopped at the stop sign at Sherman Drive when it was rear-ended by the truck. The driver of the car, an adult woman, was taken to Eskenazi Hospital, where she later died, police said.

Police did not release the name of the woman killed in the crash, pending family notification.

The driver of the truck stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. The driver of the truck will be taken for a blood draw, which is standard procedure in serious injury or fatal crashes, an IMPD spokesman said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
