ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- A Boone County woman escaped an abduction attempt Monday morning while taking out her trash.

The woman, who lives at the Domain Apartments in Zionsville, told police she was taking her trash to the dumpster just before noon when a white van pulled up and a Hispanic-looking man jumped out.

The man reportedly held a box cutter to her neck and tried to pull her inside the van.

The woman said she managed to wrestle herself free of his grip before running to the main office for help.

"You don't really think about it when you go to take the trash out," said neighbor Lauren Edwards. "Like, you think it's, you know, an activity that you do. You don't have to worry about it. I think it will be a lot safer once they are caught. It's scary knowing they are still out there, because this could happen again."

The van was described as white with a ladder on top and no markings. The woman told police the suspect was a Hispanic male approximately 5'8" – 5'10" tall, with a bald head and light facial hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.

Anyone with information about the abduction attempt is asked to contact Zionsville police at 317-873-5967.
