PENDLETON — The Pendleton Town Council says Marc Farrer can stay with the police department, but not as chief.
In January, the council fired Farrer because of some Facebook postings.
Friday, the same council, in a unanimous decision, voted to let Farrer continue with the department, as a patrolman.
Farrer was chief of the Madison County town's police department for 13-yeas.
Facebook postings by Farrer were considered by some to be anti-Islam, anti-transgender and anti-Native American.
At the time of his firing, the town hall meeting room was filled with people showing support for the chief.
