A Verizon retailer in Green Bay, Wisconsin did acknowledge that people are experiencing some sort of problem with their phones. The retailer suggested people make calls on their WiFi until the issue is resolved.
According to DownDetector.com, the number of people reporting problems with Verizon spiked this morning from a few dozen reports to a few thousand.
Verizon Support on Twitter says "it is unusually busy today" for calls into customer service. They did reassure one customer that it was not due to a zombie apocalypse.
No zombie apocalypse here, but we do apologize for the inconvenience you are having. Let's get you over to the Verizon wireless mobile team. It is unusually busy today but someone will be with you shortly ^DNS pic.twitter.com/7TUeLQkzit
