INDIANAPOLIS — Dan Coats, the former Congressman and U.S. senator from Indiana, resigned as the U.S. director of national intelligence, effective Aug. 15.
The news of Coats’ resignation led to many members of the Indiana delegation publicly thanking him for his service to the United States.
Sen. Todd Young, who won Coats’ Senate seat in 2016:
“Throughout his many years of service in both the House and Senate, as U.S. Ambassador to Germany, and as Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats has made Indiana proud. America is better and more secure thanks to his tireless service. On behalf of all Hoosiers, I thank Director Coats for his devotion to duty.”
