INDIANAPOLIS – A new poll in Indiana shows the race for governor is much tighter than it was a few months ago.
Change Research and IndyPolitics released a survey of 1,033 likely voters. The poll shows Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb leading Democratic challenger Dr. Woody Myers by just six percentage points.
In a similar poll in April, Holcomb had a 20-point lead.
Libertarian candidate Donald Rainwater had 24% in the poll. Change Research says it appears Rainwater is picking up support from some Republicans who are upset with Holcomb's mask mandate and other COVID-19 restrictions.
The same poll also shows President Donald Trump with a large lead over Democratic candidate Joe Biden, 53%-39%. Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgenson polled at 5%.
The poll was taken between Sept. 3-Sept. 7 with a margin of error of 3.1%.
