INDIANAPOLIS — Two adults were transported to a local hospital after police responded to a shooting Sunday night on westbound Interstate 70 near Shadeland Avenue on the east side of Indianapolis.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and Indiana State Police troopers responded to the shooting just after 7:30 p.m., according to a news release from ISP.
A man who was sitting in the back seat is in critical condition with a gunshot wound. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries when they were hit by shrapnel from the gunfire.

Investigators believe a third person was in the car, but investigators believe they fled the scene before officers arrived.
Information about a possible suspect or their vehicle was not available. Anyone who might have witnessed the shooting is asked to contact Indiana State Police.
