INDIANAPOLIS — A child was struck and killed while he was waiting for his school bus Friday morning on the east side of Indianapolis, according to his school and police.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the scene around 7:30 a.m. on East 21st Street just east of North Post Road.
IMPD Officer Samone Burris said investigators believe the boy was struck by at least two drivers. The driver of the first vehicle, described as a light-colored sedan, left in an unknown direction.
The driver of the second vehicle who struck the boy stayed at the scene and is "fully cooperating" with the investigation, Burris said. Detectives believe the driver of the second vehicle is believed to have caused the fatal injuries.
