FULTON COUNTY — Five people, including three children, were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Friday in Fulton County.
According to a report from the Indiana State Police, the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. Friday on U.S. 31 at Sweetgum Road.
Troopers said a 43-year-old Macy man was driving a 2012 Toyota Corolla southwest on Sweetgum Road when he apparently failed to yield to traffic on U.S. 31 and pulled into the path of a northbound 2019 Nissan Sentra. The Nissan struck the Corolla on the driver's side.
The driver of the Corolla and the driver of the Nissan, a 49-year-old woman from Indianapolis, were both taken by medical helicopter to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment, troopers said. Three children — an 8-year-old boy, a 5-year-old boy, and a girl of unknown age — were passengers in the Nissan and were also flown to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment. State police said the conditions of the victims is unknown.
Troopers said neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected of being a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
