INDIANAPOLIS — Two IMPD Officers were involved in a serious car crash at Mooresville and Kentucky Ave this afternoon.

According to police, an IMPD officer stopped their patrol car on Kentucky avenue to help move furniture that a truck had dropped.

Investigators say a second IMPD officer, identified as 22-year veteran Officer Michael Kermon, was driving on the same road, when he hit a Honda Accord, which then ran into the stopped IMPD car.

Officer Kermon's IMPD vehicle then flipped over.

Medics took Officer Kermon to the hospital in critical condition. In a Monday update, IMPD said Officer Kermon is now in stable condition and is responding to treatment.

IMPD is hopeful that officer makes a full recovery.

Police said the officer moving furniture wasn't hurt.

The drivers of the Honda and a Jeep that also became involved, were taken for blood draws, which is standard procedure.
