INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police say one person is dead after a four-vehicle crash on I-465.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near Exit 44, where I-465 southbound and I-70 intersect on the city's east side.

According to police, first responders found a heavily damaged Acura SUV with two people trapped inside.

Troopers say 73-year-old Marc Kellams of Bargersville was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The IU Maurer Law School tweeted that Kellams taught trial advocacy at the Law School for decades and was scheduled to teach again this fall

A passenger in his vehicle was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries however she is in stable condition. A passenger in a box truck was also injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to preliminary information, investigators determined traffic stopped for unknown reasons and the box truck driver did not stop. The box truck hit the Acura at "highway speeds" and caused the chain reaction crash.

Troopers say the box truck driver was tested for impairment but neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash.
