One killed in five-car crash on Indianapolis' south side

INDIANAPOLIS — One person was killed in a five-car crash Wednesday evening on the south side of Indianapolis, according to police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called to the crash around 6:15 p.m. near South Meridian Street and West Epler Avenue.

An officer at the scene said one person, a male, died in the crash.

Someone involved in the crash may have been intoxicated, but the crash remains under investigation, the officer said.

Additional details, including the identity of the person killed, haven't been released.
