INDIANAPOLIS — A man died and two others were seriously injured in a crash early Thursday on an entrance ramp to Interstate 465 on the city's southwest side, officials say.
Indiana State Police say the crash occurred around 5:15 a.m. on the ramp from southbound I-465 to Washington Street.
The driver didn't navigate the curve in the ramp and ended up going through a ditch before hitting an embankment and becoming airborne, according to ISP.
"The vehicle then landed on the other side of the onramp, overturned and came to rest upside down," ISP said in a news release.
Authorities believe at least two people in the vehicle, including the man who died, were ejected from the vehicle.
The man died at the scene and the other two people were transported to Eskenazi Hospital. It's not yet clear if that individual was the driver or a passenger. His identity has not been released.
Test results for impairment are pending and Indiana State Police are continuing the investigation. The ramp was closed for approximately six hours.
