ANDERSON — Four people are dead after a small plane crashed near the Anderson Municipal Airport Friday morning.

The plane crashed just before 10 a.m. in the 4300 block of E. 100 South in Madison County — this is outside of city limits.

Upon arrival, first responders located the plane down and engulfed in flames in a corn field approximately two miles southeast of the Anderson Municipal Airport.

According to the FAA, the single-engine Piper PA-46 had four passengers on board.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office confirmed there were no survivors.

The passengers were identified as:

  • Joseph R. Scallon, 68, of Iowa Falls, Iowa
  • “Owen” James Renaud, 19, of Alden, Iowa
  • Jesse H. Ostheimer, 41, of Alden, Iowa
  • Braden W. Hicks, 36, of Manson, Iowa

Authorities say the plane had departed Fort Dodge, Iowa, enroute to the Anderson Airport, and for an unknown reason, lost altitude and crashed.
