Stolen school bus pursuit starts in Cincinnati and ends in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY — A stolen school bus led to a pursuit that span multiple counties, ending in Shelby County.

Indiana State Police said the suspect stole the school bus from Cincinnati, Ohio and led multiple agencies on a chase that lasted nearly an hour.

The Indiana State Police- Versailles Post was contacted by Ohio authorities about the school bus at around 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Troopers tried to initiate a traffic stop on he vehicle as it entered Decatur County but the suspect did not stop.

State police say cruisers, vehicles and property were all damaged during the course of the pursuit through numerous fields and roads.

No injuries have been reported.

Eventually, officers deployed a tire deflation device that successfully caused the tires on the bus to deflate, police said.

The suspect was then taken into custody near County Rd 25 East just south of Shelbyville.

A spokesperson with the Cincinnati Police Department told WRTV's sister station WCPO the bus was stolen out of CPD district 2, from the 2300 block of Grand Avenue in East Walnut Hills.
