The Apple Pay mobile payment system is being blocked by some retailers.
Buying something with Apple Pay requires holding one of Apple’s mobile products, such as the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, in front of a credit card terminal and using your thumb to authenticate the purchase.
The retailers not allowing Apple Pay usage are in competition with it, according to The Verge.
Walmart, Kmart, Best Buy, Sears and several others have a joint venture called the Merchant Customer Exchange and are building their own pay app. CurrentC will likely launch in 2015.
The Merchant Customer Exchange group announced this venture in 2012.
