INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Police will be the next department to get body cameras by next spring.

The price tag to buy the cameras for ISP is $5 million. The agency will need an extra $1.5 million to support the technology, as well.

ISP Supt. Doug Carter explained to WRTV why this is critical to the statewide agency in a one-on-one interview.

"Body cameras weren't even on my priority list. They weren't on the list at all for me ... Then 2020 happens. And it really caused me to take a step back and look at this differently."
