Virtual lines, drinks still free: What to expect from Holiday World this summer

SANTA CLAUS – Holiday World is expecting to open for the season on June 17.

If you’re ready for one of Indiana’s top amusement parks, here’s what to expect when it opens.

Virtual lines

One of the most annoying parts of amusement parks is the lines to get on each ride, but Holiday World’s solution for safety and health may actually help with that, too.

The park is instituting virtual lines for each ride. Once you’re inside the park, you can sign up for a ride, and your phone will tell you when it’s your turn to ride. This keeps the visitors socially distanced.

Holiday World says it’s still working on a solution for people without smartphones, or what to do if your battery dies.

Water park opening later

If you’re going to Holiday World for the Splashin' Safari Water Park, you may want to wait a bit.

The park says it’s still working on when the water park sections will reopen. The lifeguard training processes will have to change as well, leading to delays. Officials are targeting a July 4 reopening for the water park.

Yes, you’ll still get free soft drinks

The staple of Holiday World isn’t changing. It’s unclear if Holiday World will have self-serve station yet. They’re waiting on guidance from the health department and the National Restaurant Association.

But if they can’t have self-serve stations, you’ll be able to get drinks from Holiday World employees.
