Senegal has recorded its first case of Ebola, in what is the worst outbreak of the virus in recorded history.
The infected young man is from Guinea, one of the West African countries ravaged by the virus, Health Minister Awa Marie Coll Seck told reporters, according to TIME magazine.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2,615 cases of Ebola are suspected or confirmed in West Africa, with 1,427 deaths. The countries in West Africa affected are Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
In the past week, cases of Ebola have been reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but they don’t seem to be linked to the current outbreak.

The National Institute of Health in the United States is to begin human testing to develop a vaccine for Ebola next week, at an NIH clinic in Bethesda, Maryland.
