INDIANAPOLIS — Construction work on IndyGo's Blue Line won't start for another two years, but some business owners are already worried about the possible chaos it could bring.
Some business owners, like Rachel Hawkins are worried the Blue Line could impact the number of customers she gets.
"People may not come to us," Hawkins said. "They may go somewhere else that is more convenient to access."
IndyGo has done traffic impact and safety studies of the Blue Line corridor.
"The route 8 that currently serves West Washington is one of our highest ridership routes," IndyGo's Faith Chadwick said. "We recognize there is suddenly a need for improved transit to help through that corridor more efficiently."
Those who rely and depend on rapid transit say the lines mean improved accessibility.
"I was doing some research on the buses when I got here and I heard how they were expanding," Tyler Oldham said. "It's cool that I have the opportunity to get around the city a lot easier."
IndyGo says they will keep listening to the community to improve and make the lines better.
