INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman says she wants Family Dollar to do more to keep their employees safe after recent robberies at a store on the east side of Indianapolis.
Sandra Goodrich says she’s worried for those work and shop at the store because there have been at least five robbery related calls there this year. The latest one happened Monday and involved her son and his co-worker.
The robbery related call happened at the Family Dollar at East 21st Street and North Arlington Avenue.
“I’m afraid my son is going to get shot,” Goodrich said. “They forced him to open the register while they pointed a gun at him.”
Goodrich says the problems happen at night and during the day.
"I brought a lady up here about two weeks ago and on the way our the door, they tried to snatch her purse," Goodrich said.
A spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the case remains under investigation.
RTV6 has reached out to Family Dollar about these robberies. We asked them what, if anything, they plan to do to keep their employees and customers safe. We’ll update this story once we hear back from them.
