INDIANAPOLIS — The family of Dorian Murrell is demanding answers after he was killed on May 31 and the suspect arrested in connection with the shooting was released on bond.
Murrell, 18, was shot and killed in May in downtown Indianapolis when peaceful protests turned violent.
"It's very frustrating to the community," Howard said. "We see another young Black man dead and we want to know why, we want to know how."
His family and community members gathered Saturday to demand answers after the suspect in the incident, Tyler Newby, 29, was released on a $25,000 bond.
"That's one of the many answers the family is looking for, that is why they are here," Denell Howard, pastor of Holy Street Christian Church, said. "That is why they are going through this pain and agony of coming back to this site. And having to revisit this hurt. And the struggle. But they are here because they are strong enough to say we want answers. We demand answers."

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office told WRTV while the latest development is adverse, it is not the end of the case. The family says they want to see evidence and want an explanation.
"If we don't stand in front of this and keep in front of people I will get pushed aside you will find another young man he a black man dead and everybody just moves on as if life just goes on," Howard said.
