INDIANAPOLIS — Brayden Shiflet was one of three teens shot at a party on the east side July 11.
The 16-year-old's father has been begging for answers as his son's killer is still out on the streets.
"We are just looking for answers and we want to know what happened and why," James Shiflet, Brayden's father, said. "Why my 16-year-old son is no longer with us."
It has been nearly two months and there are still no answers as to who killed Brayden Shiflet.
"It just feels like there isn't going to be any justice," James said. "It feels like it's almost swept under the rug, so to speak, because there's so many other things going on in the world and the city."
The teen was allegedly killed at a party near 24th Street and North Sheridan Avenue. His family is now losing hope they'll ever find out what happened that night.
James said his son was a smart young boy who liked to play basketball and was part of the Christian group Young Life at North Central High School.
"No one deserves to have their life taken, especially at such a young age with so much potential and so much of the future," James said. "My wife tells me all the time she'll never get to see him graduate high school, she'll never get to see him get married, those are the things that as a parent we look forward to and you never think that you're going to have to bury your child."
The family hopes someone will come forward with information for police.
"You've got to protect your kids these days," James said. "You don't know. It's just not a safe world like it used to be."
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS.
