INDIANAPOLIS — Police in Indianapolis are working overtime to try to solve two recent shootings that left five people dead on the city's northeast side.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Randal Taylor says the extra work is necessary after talking with the community, and the families of the Subway employee killed while at work and the four people killed at an apartment complex.
So far, police say no arrests have been made in connection with either case.

"We're hoping the community will give us something," Taylor said. "We really need some help in this area on these cases and we need to make some stuff happen."
The homicide tip line will be staffed around the clock until Thursday afternoon for people to speak directly to detectives. The tip line are not always staffed 24/7.
"You know, I'm not sure how big of an impact it will have, but I'm just trying to do anything that I can to generate some responses," Taylor said. "Our detectives do great work and they work these things hard, but they need some help with this and I want to try and give them that."
Taylor is asking the community to give these families closure and get their killers off the streets.
