INDIANAPOLIS — A local teacher concerned about her students' health in a COVID-19 hot spot found a way to make a difference.
Renee Bacon's 'Mask Up Period' campaign passed out hundreds of face masks to students at Arlington Wood Elementary as they headed into the summer break.
The Indianapolis school is considered a COVID-19 hot spot.
"I hope it helps kids able to get a sense of normality (to) go outside and play," Bacon said.
Bacon handed out one mask per child as they picked up report cards and their belongings since school has been off-limits since March 13.
"I'm here because I believe in our children, and I want to keep them safe," Bacon said.
Bacon is a fifth-grade teacher who was awarded theJefferson Award for Multiplying Good in May.
