SHELBY CO. — It's a done deal in Shelby County, where homeowners have spent months expressing concerns about solar farm projects.
Shelby County Commissioners approved a new set of rules from the plan commission governing the installation of solar farms. Homeowners in opposition to future projects are credited for pushing county leaders to implement tougher regulations.
Despite concerns that not enough was done to protect prime farmland and property, people say they will be vigilant if and when solar companies apply to set up their operations.
Utah-based sPower has expressed an interest in Shelby County, but the company has not filed any official paperwork.
