INDIANAPOLIS — Shipping delays continue for many United States Postal Service customers as the USPS says it is experiencing a record number of packages as well as staffing issues due to the pandemic. This is a problem we first told you about back in December. Many customers hoped things would return to normal after the holiday rush, but for some, that is not the case.

“They told him when we shipped it that it was taking longer than normal because of all the volume they are dealing with. I understand that. I figured you know a few extra days, not over two weeks later it is still sitting in a warehouse,” said USPS customer Sherri Worley.

Worley and her husband mailed a package back on December 30th. The online tracking only shows it is “in transit,” but does not provide any additional information about where the package is stuck or when it will be delivered.

“I was a postal employee, my husband is retired post office, you know we stand up for the post office, but of late that's getting harder to do,” said Worley. “I don't think they're doing enough. Christmas has been over for two weeks, three weeks now.”

WRTV reached out to the post office to find out what is causing the delays and when customers can expect shipping times to return to normal.

They released this statement and did not respond to additional follow-up questions.

“The best thing customers can do is to contact our Customer Service department. They can go to our website usps.com and click on “Contact us” at the bottom of the homepage, or use this direct web address:

Every email will be carefully documented and appropriate action taken.

In addition, the official Twitter account of the United States Postal Service, managed by the Social Media staff at USPS HQ, can provide help. For customer service, please tweet @USPSHelp.”
