INDIANAPOLIS — YES Indy Re-engagement Centers launched on Saturday with a basketball tournament and resource fair on the east side of Indianapolis.
Young men who attended the event were able to connect with organizations and different community resources before playing in a basketball tournament.
For people like 21-year-old Dezmond Johnson, events like this helped him get a job and move out of his mom's house.
"I ended up getting a job at UHS, United Hospital Services, and I got that through project yes," Johnson said. "I would probably still be living with my mom if I didn't find a job and I didn't come here to play basketball and learn about this program."
EmployIndy and YES Indy Re-Engagement Centers hopes to continue getting unemployed and disconnected young adults back into the workforce.
