INDIANAPOLIS — Employees at Franciscan Health got a surprise on Christmas Eve as hundreds of meals were donated to the people who work there.
The pre-packaged meals were from Market District Carmel which prepared them and helped donate funds for the effort along with Southport Presbyterian Church, Bailey and Wood Mortgage Lender and Approved Mortgage.
In total, 400 meals were provided for staff members at Franciscan Health. “It just means a lot to the workers here on the front lines and we’re covering everybody from environmental services to security, pharmacy, and all the COVID units,” said Joan Himebrook, Community Outreach Coordinator for Oncology at Franciscan Health.
“This year it means so much more because nobody likes to be in a hospital on Christmas, working or as a patient, but for this year especially we are just really battling the pandemic and people are tired. It means a lot more this year than ever to make sure that people know they are appreciated," said Himebrook.
