Working Together is a new WRTV initiative that focuses on telling impactful stories highlighting the wide range of cultures, areas and people that make central Indiana the place that it is. Through our Working Together initiative, we will share the stories of our communities and carry their voices forward. We’re Working for You by Working Together.
FISHERS — A Fishers woman who recovered from the H1N1 years ago is working to give back to healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tracy Pendlum says the staff at Community Health North Hospital helped her so much with her physical and mental health when she needed it, so she wants to give back to them.
After she heard healthcare workers often don't have time for a full meal, she started collecting prepackaged snacks they could eat on the go.
People in her neighborhood are now donating items and they were able to donate a car full of snacks for a nurse to bring to the hospital.
"My hope is to make it big enough where maybe we've got so much that we can spread it out to other hospitals, and maybe someone will see this and be inspired to do it on the west side for St. Vincent or in Carmel," Pendlum said.
People are also dropping off letters of encouragement with their snacks.
