INDIANAPOLIS — Many H&R Block and TurboTax customers in Indiana said they received their second stimulus checks Wednesday after some experienced delays earlier in the week.

Ashley Gahagan of Indianapolis contacted WRTV Investigates after her second stimulus payment went into the wrong account, which was only used for fees when she filed her 2019 taxes with H&R Block.

“It’s crazy to me,” Gahagan said Tuesday. “It’s so irresponsible.”

Gahagan and other taxpayers told WRTV the problem was fixed, and their money was deposited into the correct bank accounts Wednesday.

“The IRS Get My Payment website may display an account number you don’t recognize. If you took a Refund Transfer, it may be reflecting that account number. Check your 2019 return to confirm,” said H&R Block in a statement on Jan. 4. “But don’t worry – we have sent these payments on to the method you chose for Refund Transfer: direct deposit, check or Emerald Card. The money should be there by the end of the day.”

TurboTax customers in Indiana received this message Wednesday.

Dear Valued TurboTax Customer,The IRS recently began issuing a second round of stimulus payments to those eligible. Unfortunately, because of an IRS error, millions of payments were sent to the wrong accounts and some may not have received their stimulus payment. We have been working tirelessly on a solution with the Treasury and the IRS. As a result, our expectation now is that within days the error will be corrected and stimulus payments will begin being deposited into the correct bank accounts. We have also re-confirmed with the IRS that they have all of the correct banking information. We know how important these funds are for so many Americans and that everyone is anxious to get their money, now more than ever. We will keep you updated on our efforts, and we will stay on this until you get your money.Respectfully,Greg JohnsonExecutive Vice President & General ManagerIntuit, Inc. | TurboTax

The Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Treasury Department began sending checks last week. However, many H&R Block customers using the IRS Get My Payment website have reported their money was sent to an account number they do not recognize.
