INDIANAPOLIS — The famous 1950s-style drive-in service is back with a modern twist at select Steak 'n Shake locations, including Indianapolis.
Steak ‘n Shake announced its revival of carhop service on Monday, saying in part: “Today’s pandemic world has enabled us to revitalize the Drive-In experience with renewed purpose.”
Here's how it works:
- Pull into one of the designated Car Hop parking spaces, denoted by signage evoking a 45 RPM record.
- Open the Steak ‘n Shake app; place your order; select “Car Hop” and enter your vehicle details.
- A server will deliver a tray and attach it to the car window.
- Enjoy your food in the car or at one of their umbrella-covered picnic tables.
