Takeout Tuesday: Ambrosia

INDIANAPOLIS — Today’s Takeout Tuesday forecast takes us to an Italian restaurant that has been a staple of the food scene in Indy since it was established in 1979.

While the location of Ambrosia has changed over the years, the food for this family-run restaurant has not. Moving from the heart of Broad Ripple several years ago, you can now find Ambrosia at its current location on the corner of College and Kessler just south of Broad Ripple Avenue.

The current location features a patio out front that is open at 50% capacity with a limit of 6 people or less for outdoor dining. Reservations are recommended by calling the restaurant if you are looking to snag a table. Otherwise, they are still doing carryout from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every day. Single portions are available as well as family-style offerings, which feed approximately four people.

If you have been to Ambrosia, many of the staples are on the carryout menu, which includes appetizers, pasta, fish, and chicken dishes. Todd’s top picks include the Rustica (my favorite), but you can’t go wrong with their chicken parm or lasagna or really anything for that matter.

Hopefully, as restrictions ease, we can soon sit inside as well. I love sitting at the quaint bar with a glass of wine while enjoying my meal and look forward to that day again. In the meantime, continue to support local and family-owned businesses through carryout or if they have open patios.
