BLOOMINGTON — Malibu Grill is one of the most well known and popular restaurants in Bloomington.
Located on the east side of the square on Walnut Street, Malibu has been a destination for locals, Indiana University graduates, post and pre-game day meals, and so much more for nearly two decades.
In fact, if you or one of your children attended IU, you have likely been there and maybe even have your photo on the wall on the bar side of the restaurant. The entire wall is loaded with 4x6 photos that go back near 20 years, and I bet if you would look closely, you will see someone you know. My younger self included. During normal operating conditions, there is also the dining side of the restaurant and a patio as well.
While dining in isn’t an option quite yet, the always-friendly Malibu staff is still here to serve your carryout needs. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. you can even get your fix of hand-trimmed steaks, fresh seafood, salads and sandwiches.
One of the things I love about Malibu is the menu has something for everyone, including kids. Whether it is a steak and seafood staple or some of their more eclectic items, you can tell each meal is made with care.
My top takes on the abbreviated menu right now are the crab cakes, the prime rib sandwich the Alpine chicken, and you can never go wrong with the salmon. My favorite item (the pork chops) are not on the menu right now, but I look forward when things are back to normal I can sit on the bar side, find my photo from ten years and 15 pounds ago, enjoy a glass of wine with the pork chops followed by a night out on Kirkwood.
So, if you live in the Bloomington area or are traveling down there, keep Malibu Grill in mind as they are open for business. They would love to see all the familiar faces as well as any new faces. No matter who you are, you will be greeted with a smile and the hospitality that has been keeping customers coming back time and time again.
