INDIANAPOLIS — Love conquers all, at least that is what some are saying this Valentine’s Day.
First opened in 1960, WRTV featured the family-owned business, Gillespie Florists, back in April during a ‘We’re Open’ story.
While Vice President Sarah Gillespie said it has been a tough year, she is incredibly thankful for the community support that kept the doors open. This weekend the shop has seen nearly 500 delivery orders alone and Gillespie said that number continues to grow.
“One big difference we’ve seen is people can’t connect physically like they used to so they may not be able to go visit grandma or mom or dad so more people are connecting with flowers — closing the distance by sending flowers,” Gillespie said.
For those who still may want to send a bouquet of flowers, chocolate or a teddy bear on Valentine’s Day, there is still time.
Gillespie Florists on West 10th Street in Indianapolis is open Sunday. The staff there ask customers to wear a mask and respect social distancing.
Curbside, delivery, and in-person orders will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
