INDIANAPOLIS — While some businesses are finding themselves in troubling times during the coronavirus shutdowns, others are busier than ever.
"We have been absolutely swamped with work," Ryan Grimes, founder and president of My IT Indy, said.
Those able to work from home are more than likely already doing so by this point in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some businesses, however, have the potential to move to remote operations entirely but don't know how. When local businesses are struggling to juggle all of the moving parts, that's when companies like My IT Indy comes in.
"We have the ability to be the calm in the storm," Grimes said. "We would love to talk to any company struggling to figure out how to work remotely and see if we can find the solutions that don't break the bank and give them the peace of mind from knowing they are still getting work done."
My IT Indy was established in 2004 by Grimes and his wife, both Chicago-area natives. The IT services company utilizes technology to assist its clients, such as VoIP phone systems, cloud file sharing solutions, and remote access applications.
The Indianapolis tech company focuses on small to medium businesses in Indiana and is currently focusing on helping area businesses move their offices to their homes.
In light of these trying times, Grimes decided to help his current clients who were not exclusively remote move their systems for free.
"We ate the cost of the software licenses and labor needed to make that happen for them," Grimes said. "Our (number one) goal is to make our clients successful, and we probably put in 60 (plus) hour weeks just to make sure they were taken care of."
As Grimes and his company work excessive hours to keep other businesses running from the safety of their homes, his whole team is operating remotely as well.
"The good thing for us is that we are already remote! We work from co-working spaces, our home offices, or the client's office. So we are working less at the client's, and more from our home office at this point," Grimes said.
Although My IT Indy is working to make sure clients run smoothly from home, some of their clients were already prepared for times like we're all experiencing now.
"We utilize a lot of technology to assist our clients. We also helped them plan for the need to work remotely just like we are seeing here," Grimes said. "VoIP phone systems, cloud file sharing solutions, and remote access with applications like Splashtop enable us to not only help them remotely but also enable them to work remotely as well and to stay open."
Grimes and his company seek to partner with more businesses around central Indiana because they understand the struggles small businesses can face.
"We are small business owners ourselves and know the struggles small business owners face. Even when everything is going well, it's still tumultuous," Grimes said. "We are not just a vendor that fixes technology; we are a partner that will help businesses grow and do better."
