In a time when we can't all gather around a table, we can still come together as a community. We're Open Indy is a partnership between WRTV and our local restaurants and businesses with one goal: getting them through this tough time. Every day, we will help shine a light on the businesses that make up our community by telling their stories and rallying around those who are keeping the grills going, the hospitals running, and the businesses operating.

INDIANAPOLIS — One of the newest spots on the Indianapolis pizza scene is still open and working hard to keep up with the demand.

On the eastern edge of downtown Indianapolis, Adam Sweet is working to make some of the best pizza in the city.

King Dough has only been in the city for a little more than a year, but its already becoming a mainstay.

"Being a pizza shop, it's in our DNA to do takeout and delivery," Sweet said. " We benefit from that big time, we already have a built in customer base."

Its oven imported from Italy and huge flame are helping the restaurant turn out pizzas.

Even though its dining room is closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sweet says business has still been busy.

"Whenever it's all hitting the fan we assembly line it," Sweet said. "I'm the dough guy, because I'm fast, keep it moving. We have one person on the phone just taking orders. We're learning as we go. For the most part, people have been pretty awesome."

And until the warmer weather and social distancing allows for its dining room and patio to reopen, Sweet is encouraging everyone to do their part to help stop the spread of the virus.

"Let's flatten this curve so we can open our doors and take care of you," Sweet said. "Until then come in and we'll feed you as much as we can."
