INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Indians are planning a multi-million dollar expansion to Victory Field.
The Home Plate Club project will create a “social VIP space” for more than 200 guests on the upper level of Victory Field, an Indians spokesperson said.
The funding for the $8.3 million project will be split between the Indians and the Capital Improvement Board -- $2 million from the CIB and $6.3 million from the Indians. This is the third project in an agreement between the team and the CIB. The CIB had to provide $2 million for each project, the spokesperson said.
The new club space will have 4,500 square feet, big-screen TVs and a mix of bar seating and soft seating. The inside of the new space will have a full-service bar (shaped like home plate).
The project will also allow the team to expand its administrative offices along Victory Field’s second floor. The radio booths, press box and control room will all be relocated due to the project.
The team will make a more formal announcement later this summer.
