WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm has announced he is staying in Indiana, according to ESPN.

There has been speculation that Brohm may be heading to Louisville after he met with the school's athletic director, Vince Tyra, on Tuesday to discuss the Cardinal's coaching vacancy.

According to ESPN, Brohm was the front-runner for the Louisville job after Bobby Petrino was fired on November 11.

Brohm attended high school in Louisville and played quarterback at the University of Louisville.

ESPN reports that Brohm released a statement Wednesday saying that although "going home was very appealing and meaningful to me, the timing was not ideal."

The Boilermakers are currently 6-6 in the Big Ten and will be heading to a bowl game.
