Fantasy football picks of the week

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- If fantasy football owners could pick up punters, Pat McAfee would be a first rounder.

Looking for some real advice for the waiver wire this week? Here are a few pick-ups that can help your team out, which we broke down on Horseplay (watch the video discussion of each pick-up in the player above).

Andrew Luck: OK, you're not going to find him on the waiver wire, but if your trust in starting him was waning, hold out for one more week. Tom Brady torched the Jaguars last week, and with the first win of 2015 under his belt and the confidence builder that was the fourth quarter comeback against the Titans, Luck will likely throw in a similar performance next week when the Colts host the Jags.

Need another QB? Andy Dalton. The Red Rifle has been frowned upon in year's past for his inability to consistently perform, but so far this year, the Bengals offense is clicking on all cylinders, and Dalton is a force to be reckoned with in fantasy. As for the "Super Bowl contender" headline that's been floating around for the Bengals, we'll see about that...

RB: Thomas Rawls, the RB that came in to replace the injured Marshawn Lynch, showed up big time for the Seattle Seahawks. Sixteen carries for 104 yards bodes well as a reliable RB2 option while Lynch still deals with injuries.

WR: Rishard Matthews has flown under the radar for the Miami Dolphins, but as the second-most targeted receiver for QB Ryan Tannehill through 3 weeks, he's getting the opportunity to shine, and isn't disappointing, as evidence by his six catch, 113 yard, 2 TD performance last week.

Desparate for a WR this week? Marvin Jones has emerged as a great No. 2 or flex option in the pass-heavy Bengals attack. He's an option inside the Red Zone, and he's hauled in a few TDs already.

PICK OF THE WEEK: TE Jordan Reed. If you haven't heard of this Washington Redskins favorite target, than you haven't been paying enough attention. He's Kirk Cousins' go-to receiver, and he's been targeted 26 times so far this season, second in the league to only Rob Gronkowski and Greg Olsen (28). Oh, and he's only on teams in less than 20% of leagues. PICK HIM UP.

STAY AWAY: WR Andre Johnson has been nowhere to be found since joining the Indianapolis Colts, with just 7 catches for 51 yards, disappointing a lot of fantasy owners who thought he could be a strong No. 2. Until he becomes a proven part of the Colts week-in and week-out, find another option. We discussed that on Horseplay here.
