INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Motor Speedway isn't the only circular track for vehicles in Indianapolis.
The Federal Highway Administration created a neat graphic last year about the comparisons between IMS and I-465.
Obviously, I-465 is a lot longer. Compared to IMS' 2.5-mile lap, one lap around I-465 is about 53 miles. Driving 500 miles on IMS takes 200 laps, but it would be just 9.4 laps on I-465.
The biggest difference between the two is the speed of the drivers. The record for 500 miles on IMS is about 2 hours and 40 minutes. But it would take nine hours to go that distance at 55 miles per hour on I-465.
There are also probably one or two more potholes on I-465 than IMS.
