INDIANAPOLIS -- Hoosier Ed Carpenter will start in the pole position at the pole for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500. 

It will be Carpenter's third time starting at the pole after he blew past three Penske drivers on the second-to-last run in qualifying to claim the coveted Indy 500 pole. 

Danica Patrick qualified 7th for the final race of her career, which is also her first IndyCar start since 2011.

Both James Hinchcliffe and Pippa Mann were bumped from the race during Bump Day qualifying on Saturday. It remains unclear if either of them will find a way to make it into the Indy 500 race next weekend but IndyCar has said they do not plan to expand the field to allow the two to race.
