INDIANAPOLIS -- It was a HOT day at the Indianapolis 500 and it kept emergency crews on their toes.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IU Methodist Hospital released the numbers Sunday evening saying more than 200 people were treated for heat-related illnesses while attending the Indy 500 - and many of those were the partygoers in the Indy 500 Snakepit.

Hospital officials say most of those patients were able to be treated at the infield hospital but some severe cases were sent to IU Methodist on 16th Street. They say the number of patients treated at the 102nd Running of the Indianapolis 500 is more than a "typical" race day and they blame many of the incidents on the 90-degree temperatures.
Medical personnel encourages fans who attended the Indy 500 to continue drinking water over the Memorial Day holiday.
