WEST LAFAYETTE — Purdue's home opener was a success, even if the stands at usually noisy Mackey Arena were devoid of fans.
The Boilermaker men had no trouble with the University of Oakland from suburban Detroit, winning 93-50, Tuesday afternoon.
The win gives Purdue a 2-1 record, while Oakland is 0-5.
The Boilers were up by 22 at the half and cleared their bench in the second half. Purdue shot 55% for the game and out-rebounded Oakland 40-21.
Brandon Newman had 21 points and Sasha Stefanovic finished with 20.
