BLOOMINGTON—For thousands of drivers from Ohio and Indiana heading to Bloomington for Saturday's game, getting there may be quite a challenge.
More than 50,000 fans are expected at Memorial Stadium for the noon kickoff between the Top-10 Buckeyes and the Hoosiers. And there are road projects likely to slow traffic in a number of places. Here's a look.
I 465: Drivers coming through Indianapolis from Ohio and eastern Indiana need to be aware that I 465 is closed south and westbound from I 70 on the east side to I 65 on the south side. The detour is to take I 70 into downtown and get on I 65 south to 465. The return trip will be easier. 465 east and northbound is open between 65 and 70.
I 70: This will be a problem after the game. Eastbound 70 is down to one lane between State Roads 9 and 109 in Hancock and Henry counties.
State Road 37: One of the primary routes between Indianapolis and Bloomington is being converted into I 69. As a result, one lane of 37 in each direction is closed between State Road 252 and Ohio Street in Martinsville.
State road 67: Road work is closing lanes between Martinsville and Mooresville.
I 69 and State Roads 46/45: The big interchange a few miles west of Memorial Stadium is the scene of major road work. The 45/46 bypass is down to one lane.
I 69 southwest of Bloomington: Football fans coming to Bloomington from the south aren't getting any breaks. The left lanes of the highway are closed in both directions.
With the noon kickoff time, the Buckeye and Hoosiers faithful will need to be on the road very early this year.
