HENDRICKS COUNTY — Parts of Interstate 70 in Hendricks County are scheduled to close overnight starting next week as crews demolish a bridge.
The closures are scheduled between 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m. at the State Road 39 interchange, according to a press release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Weather permitting, the following closures are scheduled:
- Sept. 18: I-70 eastbound
- Sept. 21-Sept. 23: I-70 westbound
- Sept. 24: I-70 eastbound
- Sept. 25: I-70 westbound
Traffic will be detoured on the State Road 39 ramp and back on the interstate on the ramps, according to the release. Crews will manually operate the traffic signal at the interchange to keep traffic moving.
The $16.2 million diverging diamond interchange redesign project will add traffic capacity and relieve congestion, according to the release. It is scheduled to open to traffic in fall 2021.
