PUTNAM CO. — Indiana State Police have asked drivers to seek an alternate route on Monday evening after a fatal car accident on I-70 westbound, near mile marker 47.
Police officers responded to a serious accident just east of Cloverdale a little after 5 p.m., when Sgt. Matt Ames tweeted out a warning for drivers to steer clear of the area.
There is a serious accident at the 46 mile marker westbound on I-70. This is east of SR 231. Please avoid this area and seek another route. Westbound traffic will be diverted off of exit 51 (Little Point). #ISP53

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, clean-up will be around two hours for the right lane only, the left lane is still open.
